Scooter in a suitcase

If you want to save the planet and reduce congestion you could consider investing in this electric folding scooter.

The prototype Moveo is being promoted by the Antro Group, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of ecological forms of transport in Hungary.

It weighs 25 kilograms (55lbs), has a maximum speed of 45km/h (28mph), and a battery range of 35km (21.75 miles). It is powered by in-wheel motors on two wheels.

The group is seeking partners to help fund the commercial development of the scooter.

Production of the bike is expected to start early this year at a plant in western Hungary. If sufficient funds are available, mass production will ensue, with 15,000 Moveo, costing $3100 each, to be produced annually. If the funding target is not met, medium-scale production would be 4000 scooters a year, each costing $4600.

“When users reach their destination, instead of having to find a parking space, it takes them about two minutes to double the carbon-composite body of the bike in two,” said Moveo CEO Tamás Slezák. “The scooter can then be dragged using an integral handle, and remains inside a suitcase. Because it has a ‘closed design’ when folded, users are protected from their dirty parts.”…
