Scorpion expands to meet growing demand

Datatool parent company Scorpion Automotive is to expand its manufacturing facility into a second purpose-built factory adjacent to its UK HQ at Chorley, Lancashire. The expansion is to meet rising UK and export demand for the company’s expanded range of products and will provide a further 6500sq.ft of work area.

Scorpion’s sales success has led to new jobs within its production, 24/7 tracking and sales and marketing departments.

Its existing HQ houses R&D, technical, quality, and sales and marketing functions across all of the company’s brands.

MD Mark Downing commented: “This move marks a major milestone in Scorpion’s 43-year history. The expansion is necessitated by an unprecedented increase in UK sales of our Datatool and Scorpion GPS stolen-vehicle and fleet management systems and an upturn in export sales and enquiries.

“To meet this rapidly rising demand we’ve an ongoing capital investment programme with several new machines going into the new site.

“The additional working space will house all production lines and staff, but with additional capacity to expand in the future.”

Downing concluded: “Our on-going investment in people, plant and process improvement reinforces our commitment to build on our status as a world class, leading player in automotive security, telematics and electronics. Making this investment also reflects our commitment to leveraging workforce talent from the highly skilled labour pool that exists within the Lancashire region”.
