shaw harley wins battle of the kings

Shaw Harley-Davidson has won the 2017 Battle of the Kings competition for the UK and Ireland. The East Sussex dealership’s victorious “Beach Bobber” was built by Neil Sefton, Shaw Speed and Custom’s head custom technician with support from Shaw service manager Simon Pocock.

The Battle of the Kings (BOTK) title was awarded after two rounds of judging. Round one involved an online public vote of the 31 entries, from which the top five builds moved on to a final judging round held at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show (17-19 February). At the show, the judging panel was an eclectic mix of invited motorcycle industry personnel and personalities, who made their decision in public view at the Harley-Davidson display stand.

With all five finalists taking pride of place at the front of the display stand, the attending public was also clearly appreciative of the amount of workmanship put into creating the stunning Dark Custom machines based on three models from the Sportster range of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The seven-man panel judged the five finalist machines independently to deliver scores across three categories – design vision,  originality and creativity, and quality of build and execution.

The overall top three positions were 1st Beach Bobber – Shaw Harley-Davidson, 2nd Cookie Cutter – Guildford Harley-Davidson, 3rd Super Hooligan – Warr’s Harley-Davidson (King’s Road).

The 2017 UK BOTK Custom King, Neil Sefton of Shaw Harley-Davidson, and his entry machine “Beach Bobber”, now go forward to represent UK & Ireland in a grand finale against fellow finalists from across Europe at the BOTK grand finale to be held at Milan’s prestigious EICMA motorcycle exhibition, November 2017 to decide the overall Battle of the Kings 2017 champion.

Shaw dealer principal Steven C. Willis said: “I’m really stoked… It’s an absolute fantastic announcement. We are so proud to move forward and represent the UK and Ireland in Battle of the Kings – a competition that we think has always been unique to Harley-Davidson and an awesome competitive arena for the Harley-Davidson network to show our expertise in the custom market.”
