Long-established UK motorcycle trade IT supplier Catalyst Computer Systems has been acquired by Canadian computing giant Constellation Software.

Constellation is an international provider of software and services to multiple industries, both in the public and private sectors. Founded in 1995, it now has more than 125,000 customers operating in over 100 countries around the world, employs 15,000 people and generates consolidated revenues exceeding £2.3bn. It is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with offices in North America, Europe, Australia, South America and Africa.

Reflecting on this deal, Catalyst managing director Jeff Kingsbury-Smith said: “Our acquisition by Constellation Software is a major step forward. We will benefit from a depth of resources previously unimaginable, backed by the financial strength and experience that such a large group can offer. Our plan is to continue to develop and combine forward-thinking software services with the friendly personal service we have always offered.”

According to Kingsbury-Smith, business will continue as usual for the team at Catalyst. “It will remain an independent trading company developing industry software,” he added. “Infrastructure and offices remain unchanged to ensure minimal disruption. Software development, support, training and upgrades will continue as ever to ensure systems are always at the leading edge. From the perspective of the customer there will be no major changes, although we will be evolving forward with increased impetus while remaining a very customer-focused business.”
