venhill shakes on distribution deal

Venhill’s range of British-made control cables and hydraulic hoses will now be available to UK motorcycle dealers from Direct Distribution.

The new arrangement was announced at Trade Expo in January.

“This is a significant step for Venhill,” says Managing Director Max Adams. “We’ve supplied the off-road trade through wholesalers for many years, but this is the first time we have had a distributor who caters for the road-based market. And we’re delighted to be working with Direct Distribution, which has such a strong portfolio of branded parts and tyres.”

Venhill has been making motorcycle controls in the UK since 1970 and has a huge database of cables and hoses for specific models.

Direct Distribution reported a great deal of interest in its new products at Expo – Venhill and Datatag in particular. “Both are brand-new for Expo and they have been going down a storm. We have got so much new stuff it’s difficult for a rep to put it in his car to show dealers what we have got so Expo is a perfect opportunity to do it.

“Originally we just supplied tyres but although we are still a very big tyre wholesaler – and are still renowned for being the cheap tyre people – besides that we do so much more. We do everything for the workshop, from fuses to brake cleaner to tyres to chains to sprockets.

“Everything we do is quality. It’s all branded product, strong brands, rather than stuff that is made in the Far East and we are going to stick to that because we don’t want boomerang products – product which goes out and comes back – because at the end of the day the quality of your products and service is what reflects on you as a business.”
