This month we look at the fastest-selling used bikes on Auto Trader since the turn of the year.
Every month we see that 125s and scooters are the fastest sellers, so they have been removed from the list this month to allow us to see a wider variety of bigger-capacity machinery. Had the sub-125cc bikes not been removed, the top six positions would have been filled by two-wheelers suitable for those with an A1 licence.Â
BMW’s versatile mid-range sports touring F800GT and Kawasaki’s similarly flexible Ninja 1000SX topped the list, illustrating that buyers are still looking for the kind of do-it-all bikes that many manufacturers seem to have dropped from their ranges.
More market insight
Auto Trader’s new Market Insight tool, which is available to all motorcycle and scooter retailers through Portal, tells us that the average price of a used bike on Auto Trader has, over the last four weeks (15 February – 14 March), risen by 6% compared to the same period 12 months ago.
Aprilia and Sym machines have seen the highest increases in pricing, at 10% and 11% improvement respectively, while Benelli (2%) and Zero (3%) were the brands to see the least growth. When we look at the data taking into account age, it’s bikes in the 5–10-year-old range that have seen the highest price increase over the year at 10%. This means that the average price of these is currently standing at £5600.
