AJS Leten LT190

It looks like nothing else on the UK market (but bears more than a passing resemblance to the cult Aussie Honda CT110 ‘Postie’), and has a spec list that is equally idiosyncratic, but the new AJS Leten may well be the bike needed to fill a niche-within-a-niche. Want an off-road capable machine? Plenty of those about. Want one with CVT transmission? Well, Honda’s X-ADV adventure scooter ticks the box, but is far bigger, more powerful and more expensive proposition than the Leten. The engine is a single-cylinder 188cc producing 14kW (about 19hp) and featuring “Diamond Like Carbon” rings, which are said to have lower friction for more power, longer longevity and improved fuel efficiency of up to 75mpg. Other practical features include switchable traction control, keyless ignition and a built-in rear luggage rack hidden under the pillion seat, plus protection against rocks and roots in the form of a sump guard. There are some creature comforts for the rider too: heated grips, hand guards and a USB charging port. It comes in black/yellow or black/silver colour schemes for an SRP of £3495.
