When you are racing a bike without an abundance of power, it is important to reduce frictional losses as much as possible to gain an advantage over rivals. Piaggio’s Zip 50 scooter is no powerhouse, even in race trim, so Malossi has made a special low-friction front wheel hub in order to make the most of every horsepower on offer. The hub is machined from billet aluminium for strength and reduced weight. Instead of the standard needle roller bearings, Malossi installs sealed ball bearings to reduce friction and protect the shaft from wear. One compromise is as this is designed for racing scooters, there is no provision for a speedo drive. It comes with a blue/grey anodised finish for an SRP of £143.50.
