Optimate USB-C

USB sockets for charging phones or sat-navs have become a de rigeur accessory for bikers over the last decade or so, but the recent EU mandate that all new phones must use USB-C means that USB-C compatible charging device are about to become much more popular. Optimate claims that its waterproof O-118 is “the first USB-C-ready on-bike charger”, and its 3300mA output means it is compatible with the latest fast-charging phone models. The unit features auto shut-off to prevent the bike’s battery being accidentally drained, and it will also monitor battery health, showing the result via LED lights. SRP is £49.90.
