MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) reg/recs are superior regulator rectifiers using actively controlled switches instead of traditional Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCR). SCRs dissipate excess energy as heat, but MOSFET units direct this to earth and run significantly cooler. They have numerous advantages over SCR type reg/recs:

• Higher Efficiency: MOSFETs have a low voltage drop compared to traditional units, leading to high energy efficiency and significantly reduced power loss.
• Cooler Running: Reduced power loss means less heat, which is a major cause of traditional regulator/rectifier failure. This also allows for more flexible mounting options.
• Stable Voltage Control: They provide more precise voltage control, reacting faster to changing load conditions. This protects sensitive electronics such as ECU’s, LED’s and lithium batteries, which are less tolerant of voltage fluctuations.
• Increased Reliability: Robust design and low operating temperatures lead to long life and excellent reliability.
• Higher Power Handling: The inherent capacity of MOSFETs allows them to handle higher power loads, reducing stress on the unit in standard applications.
