PROFIT BOOMS AT BMW

BMW Motorrad has reported big revenue and profit improvements in its third-quarter financial results to 30 September.

Quarterly revenue at the brand’s motorcycle division grew by 14.2 per cent to £289.4m. Operating profit rocketed up to £21.1m, against a loss of £3.1m in the same period last year. Pre-tax profit recovered to £20.3m, compared to a loss of £3.9m in 2013. Global retail bike sales volume in the third quarter rose by 3.6 per cent to 29,239 units.

For the nine months of 2014 to date, BMW Motorrad’s revenue has increased by 10.9 per cent to £1.07bn. Operating profit is 57 per cent up at £114.2m and pre-tax profit has grown by 58.9 per cent to £111.9m. Volume improved by 7.6 per cent to 100,217 units.
