decision to scrap Jurby festival explained

The organiser of the annual Jurby Festival of Motorcycling, the Vintage Motor Cycle Club (VMCC), has shed more light on the reasons behind the decision to pull the plug on the “fantastic event”, which was one of the main attractions of the Classic TT.

It seems the festival was almost scrapped two years ago because the organising committee felt the volume of work was “getting on top of them”. It asked the Manx government for help, but abandoned the idea of a partnership after it became clear the bureaucracy and the need to put everything out to tender would make it impossible to process everything in time for the festival.

Watch the video interview with the chairman of the VMCC, IoM, Rupert Murden, on Manx Radio.
