Demand and pricing remain strong

Demand for used bikes in October remained robust, with users spending a total of 16 million minutes browsing machines on Auto Trader Bikes. This level of demand means used bike prices remain strong, with the average two-wheeler on Auto Trader priced 3% higher than in October 2020, and 10% higher than two years ago.

Used bikes overall have been selling a day faster than they were 12 months back, at a median of 27 days. This is considerably faster than the same period in 2019, where the median speed of sale was 36 days.

This month our chart lists the fastest-selling used bikes during the period from 1 September to 14 November, based on the median number of days the bikes were on site.

There’s certainly been no slow down in the popularity of 125s, with Lexmoto’s sporty LXR125 up at the top of the list, joined by a number of learner-friendly bikes in a range of styles taking the majority of the top-ten slots and claiming nearly half of the top 30 quickest sellers list.

Adventure bikes seem to be the next most popular sector in the list, with five entries out of 30, and it doesn’t come as a complete surprise that full-fat supersports bikes have completely dropped out of the fastest sellers list this month as we head into the grip of winter.
