IRISH COUP FOR CAROLE NASH

Leading UK specialist bike insurer Carole Nash has substantially expanded its already considerable presence in the Republic of Ireland through acquiring the motorcycle book of Cornmarket Insurance Services. Effective from 1 July, this purchase will see Carole Nash take on renewal rights for approximately 6000 policies from Cornmarket, which will be managed through Carole Nash’s Dublin office.

Commenting on the acquistion, Carole Nash chief executive David Newman said; “We are very pleased to be inheriting a well-run book of business from an insurance provider that we have respected for a number of years. It’s yet another landmark deal for Carole Nash as we continue to drive the sector through our expert biking knowledge that delivers fresh product innovation time and time again.”

The Cornmarket takeover is a particular feather in Newman’s cap because it is understood to have been won in a competitive bidding process against up-and-coming bike broker Principal Insurance — also Manchester-based with operations in both the UK and Republic of Ireland, and founded by former Carole Nash personnel.

Taken together with Carole Nash’s long-established Irish activities, the company must now be approaching bike insurance market leadership in the Republic, usurping Axa from its dominant position.
