low stocks boost scooter and enduro prices

As we move into the long hot days of the summer, we are looking at the fastest-selling used bikes on Auto Trader since 1 March 2022, and in keeping with the last couple of months, we’ve removed all of the 125cc class of machinery, which often make up a large proportion of the list, to concentrate on larger-capacity bikes.

Quickest-selling machine was again Triumph’s popular Tiger adventure mid-ranger, followed by Kawasaki’s Ninja SX sports-tourer and the larger-capacity version of the Honda Rebel cruiser. Cruisers seem to be flavour of the month right now as illustrated by Indian’s Scout Bobber and Triumph Thunderbird also making the top ten.

From a pricing perspective, if we look at the four week period up to 20 June compared with the same period in the previous year, the average price of a used bike on Auto Trader is up by 5% to £7900.

Enduro machines and scooters have seen the most significant price rises, both enjoying 9% increases, reflecting the sectors’ popularity and the paucity of stock compared to consumer demand. Roadster/Retro bikes, however, have seen the lowest growth, at just 1%.

In terms of brands, bikes from MV Agusta (11%) and Indian (9%) bikes have grown the most in price over the last 12 months, with the average used example now standing at £14,000 and £12,000 respectively
