Registrations rise 'should inspire optimism'

Neil Richardson, head of the motorcycle division at Close Brothers Motor Finance, comments on the rise in September motorcycle registrations: “It looks like bikes’ fantastic summer is beginning to draw to a close as we move towards the end of the season. However, registrations are still up year on year, which should inspire optimism across the market. There’s been buoyant demand for used bikes, so much so that dealers are more worried about continuing to source high quality used stock.

“As we move towards the winter months we’d expect to see a shift in demand, potentially toward off-road models. Dealers should remain engaged in fluctuating consumer behaviour, ensuring they’re providing the most relevant stock. Additionally, now would be a good time to ensure that aftersales propositions are up to scratch, to support bottom lines through the end of the year and tougher out of season months.”
