Used values continue to climb

This month we look at the fastest-selling used bikes over 125cc since 1 February 2022.

The list is topped by Triumph’s Tiger 900, one of six adventure bikes included in the top 30. There’s some good representation from older bikes that are proving popular, with three examples of the Suzuki Bandit range in the list as well as the Honda VTR1000, amongst others.

The Bandit’s resurgence in popularity helped it push Suzuki to become the third most featured brand on the list, with Triumph claiming second, while Honda had the most entries on the fastest-selling list, with eight bikes.

Pricing resilience
Pricing remains strong across the board, with the average for a used bike on Auto Trader being 6% higher over the last four weeks than it was during the same period the previous year.

Motorcycles between three and 15 years old have seen the most substantial growth in residual values, as can be seen from the Age Band table (below) – for example, those within the 3-5 year age band are currently advertised at an average of £8300 and have seen a 9% growth compared with last year. That’s an average increase of nearly £750 on each machine.
