BIKE RECALLS STATESIDE

Both Harley-Davidson and KTM North America have notified the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of recalls, which are likely to affect similar models sold in the UK.

Harley has recalled 8060 FXDL Dyna Low Riders manufactured between January 2014 and April 2016. Apparently mechanical vibration on these bikes may cause internal damage to their ignition switches, creating a risk of engines cutting out.

KTM’s recall covers 1238 samples of its 1290 Super Adventure from 2015-2016. In this case, potentially faulty rear shock absorbers that may leak oil from their rebound-damping plugs are responsible. The cure involves a new shock and installation of an updated version of the suspension control unit software.
